What is DPIIT Startup India Recognition?
DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) Recognition is a free government recognition for eligible Indian startups under the Startup India initiative. Unlocks tax exemptions, angel tax relief, IPR rebates, and government procurement preferences.
Eligibility
Who qualifies?
- Indian entity: Pvt Ltd, LLP, Partnership
- Incorporated < 10 years from formation date
- Turnover < ₹100 crore in any FY since incorporation
- Working towards innovation, development, improvement of products/services/processes
- Or having a scalable business model with high potential for employment/wealth

- Section 80-IAC: 100% income tax exemption for 3 of first 10 FYs (with IMB approval)

- Complete startup profile
- Upload Certificate of Incorporation, PAN, business brief (250 words)
- Submit for review
- Receive DPIIT certificate via email — typically 2-7 days
