Verify eligibility
Indian entity (Pvt Ltd / LLP / Partnership); incorporated < 10 years; turnover < ₹100cr in any FY; working on innovation/scalability.
Create Startup India account
Sign up at startupindia.gov.in with founder email.
Complete startup profile
Add company details, industry, services, founders, funding history (if any), team size.
Upload incorporation docs
Certificate of Incorporation, PAN, brief about business (max 250 words), intellectual property (if any).
Submit for DPIIT recognition
Click 'Get Recognised'. Application goes to DPIIT review queue.
Wait for approval
Typical 2-7 days. DPIIT reviews and grants recognition certificate via email.
Download DPIIT certificate
Save certificate PDF. Bears DPIIT recognition number — quote it in all future applications.
Apply for Section 80-IAC (optional)
Separate application to Inter-Ministerial Board (IMB) for income tax exemption (3 of 7 years).
