How to Get EIN as a Foreign Founder

Determine entity type first
EIN application requires a US entity. Form your Delaware C-Corp or LLC first.
Get an ITIN or designate responsible party
IRS requires an SSN/ITIN OR a 'responsible party' with one. As foreign founder, you can be the responsible party listing your foreign address.
Complete Form SS-4
Download from IRS.gov. Fill in entity details, founder info, business reason. For non-SSN founders, write 'Foreign' where SSN is asked.
Fax to IRS
International applicants must fax: +1 855-641-6935 (international fax). Online EIN tool requires SSN, so it's not available.
Wait for EIN letter
Typical 1-4 weeks. IRS faxes back the EIN. Save the CP575 notice — it's your official EIN letter.
